I have been reminded lately that praying takes spiritual concentration both during and after my prayer. If I fail to watch for God's activity around me after I pray, then indeed, nothing will happen. Or maybe I don't really know what's best for me after all and I am looking in the wrong direction.
If God does really answer all my prayers, then I need to anticipate a different answer, one that is beyond what I have asked or imagined. I may be praying for good or better, but God may have best in store for me.
When I feel God is silent, I need to acknowledge the silence, and understand that He is still up to something I might not expect. God's answer sometimes is yes, sometimes no, and sometimes SURPRISE! I should watch and wait, in faith and trust that God is working all things together for the good of those who love Him. I like Blackaby's statement:
O God, if I ever ask You for one thing and You have more to give me that I am asking, please cancel my request!
